I
have been coaching MAGIC OF SKIING with Tom for twenty years and every year I
find a new concept I am excited about. This year it is the word ARTISTRY.
Tom
always tells us, "Make Your Life of Work A Work of Art."
Artistry
puts a label on what the Magic of Skiing week is about and is the quality I
want in my skiing and coaching. Below is my condensed recipe for artistry in
skiing. You can find artistry in anything you have a love to do:
-
Have a love for skiing -
have a real passion for the sport
-
Be a student of skiing-
study skiing- understand tactics-be aware of new equipment and what this
equipment means to technique and tactics
-
Surround yourself with real
skiers, people who love skiing as much as you do- notice their line and if it
differs from yours- notice how they handle different conditions
-
Be disciplined in your
practice- find home base- develop your skiing movements- learn from your
mistakes
-
Just go ski - become
centered - increase your awareness - be in the moment - do not judge your
skiing or give yourself instructions - you will recognize your best skiing and
will repeat this skiing naturally
Have the "best year ever"
and we will see you at The Magic.
