Dear friends,

lab eyh
I hope you will join us for National Lab Day celebrations at Girlstart. National Lab Day 2010 is a great opportunity for us, and for for our community, to focus on the many ways that STEM impacts our world and how we can make a difference by ensuring that children know that STEM is fun at the same time it is meaningful.

We have a new robotics lab that we are thrilled to share with you! We are grateful for the volunteer support of Jim VanWinkle, David Scheppner, Dan Ulrich, Paul Mulligan and crew whose DIY talents made this new lab possible. Additionally, we would not have been able to start any renovations without the work of our Capital Campaign committee, whose efforts resulted in the purchase of our building in February 2010.

On May 11th and 12th, from 3 to 6 pm, we will have hands-on science activities, tours of our Girlstart Technology and Science Center, and especially our new robotics lab.  There will be sample activities in all of Girlstart's labs and families are welcome to this free event! To RSVP, email julie@girlstart.org.

In addition to Lab Day, we are preparing for our Ping Pong tournament! Are you game to support Girlstart? On Sunday, May 16th, at the Austin Music Hall, you can ping, or pong, while helping Girlstart accomplish its mission of empowering and equipping girls in STEM. Come have fun with us!!

Tamara

p.s.: If you haven't checked our video proposal to Digital Media and Learning Competition, there's still time to register-watch-then comment at http://www.dmlcompetition.net/pligg/story.php?title=388. Thank you!
