Note from Tamara
Dear friends,

ping pongThis year we are welcoming 500 girls to the Expanding Your Horizons Girls Conference on April 17th- a record number for Girlstart! Registration is closed but we still need volunteers to help as workshop assistants. Elizabeth Avellán of Troublemaker Studios will start the day by sharing how she uses technology as a movie producer. Then close to 70 workshop leaders will lead hands-on activities in STEM throughout the day. We will be sure to capture video and pictures of the event to share with you, so stay tuned for that next month.

You won't want your daughter to miss this year's Summer Camp lineup! This summer, campers will create virtual animal habitats, program interactive games, perform dissections or master the use of a digital microscope! Girls also learn about exciting careers in marine biology, industrial design, engineering, game design, chemistry, biology, dermatology, optometry, programming and more. We hope to see you this summer!

And we have some very exciting news to share- Girlstart is a finalist in the MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition! The competition was designed to find 'and to inspire' the most novel uses of new media in support of learning. Out of over 1,000 projects, Girlstart is in the top 50!

Thank you!!

Tamara

p.s.: And don't forget about Ping Pong for Girlstart at Austin Music Hall on May 16th! A great way to support Girlstart programs and outreach!
