Unique Approach In the 21st Century it is no longer "business as usual". Industry Leaders are requiring Technicians to have "multi-craft" skills - PLC, Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic -to provide a competitive edge in this global economy. The Integrated Systems Technology (IST) program fills that exact need by providing authentic assessment, critical thinking and hands-on training for technicians to understand concepts and troubleshoot. This lab is the only facility of its kind in the Southeast.

| Industry Expertise Key in Lab Design
The IST facility was specifically designed with the client in mind. Caterpillar, Ford, IBM, Motorola, US Steel, Goodyear, Siemens and others were instrumental in the design of the lab's customized training programs and the accompanying equipment.
The training is designed to increase productivity by training employees to operate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment that includes multiple "integrated systems".
Lisa L. Johnson, Operations Manager at Duckworth Electric Company, agrees: "The IST Lab at CPCC has given our electricians the opportunity to enhance existing skills while teaching new skill sets which include the application of programmable controllers, electro-fluid power systems and industrial power distribution. Duckworth Electric Company is now better able to compete in the tight construction market because our employees are more highly-trained and versatile." |
