Message from the President

October is a busy month for AGA... Adoption Day on October 7th. Woo Cosmetics & Skin Care event on October 10th. And the biggest party for golden retrievers on Sunday, October 21st at our 9th Goldenrama!

Goldenrama celebrates the 2,700 Goldens we have saved. It is a fun-filled afternoon for the entire family especially your golden - BYOG! Enjoy games for the dogs and a fun kid area, plus lots of great info for dog owners. We will have vets, a groomer, trainers, a dog chiropractor, a dog massage therapist, a dog communicator, therapy dog organizations, boarding facilities, and lots of stuff to buy -- so bring some cash and credit cards. Oh, and we will have really good food trucks for humans and great treats for dogs. Our Orphans will be there looking for new homes, too.

Make sure to look at the invitation on the website to get more details. Please remember that Goldenrama is open to everyone who has a golden retriever, so spread the word to your friends. October is jammed full and we love it. It gives us a chance to see you and your wonderful goldens again and to say thank you in person!

October Orphan of the Month

Meet Wrigley, our October Orphan of the Month!
He is a AGA logo

loving and energetic 6 month old golden. He is all puppy - tons of fun to play and cuddle with!

Wrigley has a special lifelong condition known as Megaesophagus. This condition causes him to have to eat soft food upright in a special chair built for him. He has to eat 3 times a day and stay in his chair for 30 minutes until the food gets to his tummy. Through excellent care from his foster family, and his special chair built for him to keep him upright when he eats, Wrigley is improving everyday.

Wrigley needs a dedicated family with patience and time who can be devoted to making sure he remains healthy despite his condition. He can't wait to meet his special new family! You can meet Wrigley and our other orphans at Adoption Day on October 7th.

GOLDENRAMA IS THIS MONTH -
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our ninth annual Goldenrama is coming up on Sunday, October 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Field at Atlanta Athletic Club. Bring your golden and your family for a fun-filled afternoon. We need your help getting ready for it:

Bake Sale - If you can bake something for it, please email cswaters@mindspring.com for more info.
Silent Auction - Please contact sglaskey@pmlg.com if you have items to donate. We're looking for restaurant gift certificates, dog items, sports and entertainment tickets and gift cards.
Vendors - contact juliann@adoptagoldenatlanta.com.
Transportation needed- We are looking for a van to transport Goldenrama merchandise on Sunday morning from Buckhead to Goldenrama and return on Sunday afternoon. Please email carolswen1@aol.com.

If you know of any area family foundations who support animal causes, could you please send us the name of the foundation and any contact information you may have to info@adoptagoldenatlanta.com. Thank you!

GRANT WRITER REQUEST

There are many grant and corporate funding opportunities for animal welfare organizations such as AGA. We are looking for someone, preferably a retired grant writer or corporate fundraiser, who has the time to explore these opportunities for us.

If you have this expertise or know someone who might be willing to help us, please let us know. Also, keep your eyes and ears open for any tips on available grants. Joan is happy to follow up on any leads. Please contact Joan Heazel, joan@adoptagoldenatlanta.com.

NEEDED: VOLUNTEERS, GOLDENS & MARATHON RUNNERS

AGA was chosen to be part of the Atlanta Track Club's Adopt a Marathon Mile at the Atlanta Marathon on Sunday morning, October 28. We will be competing with other groups for a $2,500 prize.

We are seeking lots of volunteers, including volunteers with goldens, to cheer on the runners. We'll need at least 50 people to make a good showing. Extra points are awarded if there are runners in the Marathon or Marathon Relay who declare AGA as their group. If you are running in this marathon or know someone who is, please let us know.
