Happy Spring!
Spring means more outside time with your dog which increases the chance of your dog ingesting something it shouldn't. Please read the article below, so you'll know what to do if your dog starts throwing up. Also, take a few minutes and check out all the valuable information we have on our website.
Visit the Golden Clinic for more medical information and the Golden School for help with behavior issues. Look at the Wills & Trust section if you have not made plans for your dog(s) should something happen to you (don't think relatives will step up unless you have made arrangements with them). Go to Partner Links and find great information websites and a host of resources for your golden.
We add to our website monthly, so take another look if you haven't checked it out lately.

My dog is vomiting, What do I do?
|
|
If your dog is bright, alert and acting normally and only vomits once, it is probably not necessary to call your veterinarian. Many dogs eat grass or other "things" in the yard and vomit (usually on your best rug). However, if your dog vomits more than a few times, appears sick and uncomfortable-- call your vet. It is helpful if you note when the vomiting started, how many times your dog has vomited and what the vomit looks like - bile, undigested food, foreign objects. If any of the following symptoms occur, please seek immediate vet care or go to an ER clinic for after hour care.
- There is blood in the vomit
- Your dog acts like he wants to vomit, but nothing is expelled
- Your dog appears bloated or has a swollen abdomen (please visit our website and read the article on Bloat.)
- You suspect your dog may have eaten something toxic or poisonous
- You suspect your dog has eaten a foreign object
- Your dog has a fever or is depressed
- Your dog's gums are pale or yellow
- Your dog appears to be in pain
- Your dog also has diarrhea
- If your dog vomits more than 4 - 5 times in a 12 hour period
Do not give your dog any medications, including over-the-counter human medications unless advised by your vet to do so.

| April Orphan of the Month |
Meet Emmie Sue, our April Orphan of the Month!
She's a beautiful 9 year old golden who is looking for a home to call her own. Emmie Sue is very sweet and gentle with children; she even loves playing dress-up with them. She would prefer a home where she is your one and only animal, the queen of the castle. She is very mellow around the house, but is full of energy when it's time for her walks. Emmie Sue loves spending time with people and can't wait to keep her new family company.
Come meet Emmie Sue and our other orphans at our next Adoption Day this Sunday!
