Special Invitation from
US Supreme Court Justice
Sandra Day O'Connor, Honorary Dean

International Youth Development
Master's Institute

 O'Connor

Greetings!

It gives me great pleasure on behalf of US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (ret) to invite you and your colleagues to our Sixth Annual International Youth Development Master's Institute scheduled for May 8-13, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ.

We are privileged to have Justice O'Connor serve as the Institute's honorary dean. In addition, Justice O'Connor will deliver our opening keynote address, participate in a panel discussion regarding civic engagement and join us for lunch in her honor.

Along with Justice O'Connor we will have Dr. Ann Masten from the University of Minnesota, our country's preeminent researcher in the field of resiliency, who will share her remarkable work; Dave La Rose, Superintendent, South Kitsap School District (WA) will address transforming his community by adopting the Kids at Hope framework; and Spencer Gorin and Charlie Steffens of "Creative Spirit" will demonstrate the power of play in academic achievement and behavior.

The list of experiences throughout the week allows this Institute to live up to its reputation as the finest, most powerful learning experience in the field of child and youth development, community partnerships and educational achievement.

We purposely restrict the attendance to 50 participants to ensure the intimacy and quality of the Institute. Registration was just opened a week ago and already we have 29 people registered leaving only 21 spaces. Please reserve your space early. There are some partial tuition scholarships available.

Please link to our Master's brochure and/or registration form for more information or contact kim@kidsathope.org

In closing, I would like to thank Arizona State University, School of Community Resources and Development and the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association for their leadership and co-sponsorship.

See you at the Master's Institute!

Sincerely,

Introducing Module III: Strategic Efficacy=Creating a Culture of Success, TOGETHER!

From four hour introductory courses, training the trainer academies to a full week Youth Development Master's Institute and much in between, Kids at Hope's professional development training modules are exciting, relevant, innovative, inspiring, empowering and transformative.

To add to our professional development catalogue, Kids at Hope is excited to introduce Module III: Strategic Efficacy=Creating a Culture of Success, TOGETHER.

This six hour, one day module is for those graduates of Module I (introduction) and/or the Train the Trainer Academy who have at least six months of experience with the implementation of Kids at Hope in their schools, organizations or communities.

This course will explore the concepts, strategies and implementation of the KAH strategic framework including obstacles and roadblocks to effective implementation.

At the conclusion of the course students will understand and be able to harness the collective efficacy of their organizations and communities. Of particular interest will be a case study of school that went from the 21st worst performing school in their district to the second highest performing institution over a four year period. KAH DAYIf your school, community and/or organization is interested in scheduling a Module III. Let us know. We are pretty excited about this new dimension and its ability to take your understanding about Kids at Hpe to the next level.
