The site, launched in April 2012, was developed by teens for teens interested in problem gambling. TKYL features games, quizzes, and programs specifically geared towards teens. It also links to information for parents and educators of teens.


South Korea is perhaps the world's leader in terms of identifying and treating gaming and Internet addiction. After wiring the nation with the world's fastest broadband infrastructure, South Korea's government spends millions per year to identify and treat gaming and Internet addicts.

Cash-hungry states have long tried to poach business from one another. Now many are stepping up their efforts to lure gamblers from their neighbors to their growing ranks of slot machines, leaving states like Delaware, which embraced gambling early, struggling to keep up in what has become a feverish one-armed-bandit arms race.

Teens Fare Better at Substance Abuse Facilities With Comprehensive Mental Health Services
Teenagers who receive substance abuse treatment at facilities with comprehensive mental health services fare better one year later, compared with those treated at facilities with fewer such services, or none at all, a new study finds.

Report: Alcohol and Other Drugs: Core Medical Competencies
The use of alcohol and other drugs is widely recognized as a major public health challenge with wide-reaching social and economic consequences. A special working group has developed a consensus across 13 medical Colleges and Faculties on the core competencies, which it recommends should be incorporated into postgraduate curricula for all doctors, of all specialties. These will help to underpin the attitudes and awareness needed to increase rates of identification and treatment and are a contribution to the wider changes needed to address this major public health challenge.

Almost 30 percent of boys and 18 percent of girls in middle and high school used some type of tobacco last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Thursday. The rate of teen tobacco use has been slowly declining over the past decade.
