Countless people flock to casinos, card tables and lottery kiosks, lured by the prospect of victory and pocketing a windfall. But a leading youth gambling expert says games of chance are anything but child's play.
Facebook has been accused of turning youngsters into gambling addicts with an explosion of Las Vegas-style casino games on the social networking site.

| Odds of quitting smoking affected by genetics Genetics can help determine whether a person is likely to quit smoking on his or her own or need medication to improve the chances of success, according to research published in today's American Journal of Psychiatry.
Medication for Alcoholism: An Expanding Field The reasons why medications to treat alcoholism are not more widely prescribed are complex and this is an exciting time in the treatment of alcoholism, because the field of medication treatment for alcohol dependence is expanding into the arena of personalized medicine.
Obama Signs Legislation Banning Synthetic Drugs
On Monday July 9th, President Obama signed legislation that bans synthetic drugs. The law bans harmful chemicals in synthetic drugs such as those used to make synthetic marijuana and "bath salts".
Something to cry about: Harsh physical punishment and future risk for drug and alcohol use disorders Children who experience corporal punishment are at higher risk for later aggression, delinquency, and overall poor mental health, including substance abuse/dependence.
