It came as a surprise on May 1 when the DSM-5 task force on Addiction and Related Disorders (formerly Substance-Related Disorders) proposed to add gambling under their umbrella, right next to opiates, alcohol and cocaine.
Play Analytics - New Tools for Understanding the Dynamics of Problem Play Researchers and problem gambling specialists had to rely primarily on players reporting their thinking, emotions, and actions rather than true player data. Online gambling, and electronic gambling more generally, offer the opportunity to track and analyze play patterns. Beyond the Casino Floor: Economic Impacts of the Commercial Casino Industry This study, conducted by the Brattle Group for the American Gaming Association (AGA), uncovers several key findings about the U.S. commercial casino industry. Based on direct, indirect and induced impacts, the commercial casino industry supported approximately $125 billion in spending and nearly 820,000 jobs in the U.S. economy in 2010, which is roughly equivalent to 1 percent of the $14.5 trillion U.S. gross domestic product. Come together with other members of the gaming industry to celebrate Responsible Gaming Education Week Casinos and gaming companies from across the United States are coming together with the AGA to go "All In for Responsible Gaming" during the 15th annual Responsible Gaming Education Week (RGEW), which will be held July 30-Aug. 3. To help gaming companies and casino properties take advantage of this opportunity to educate employees, patrons and the public about responsible gaming, the AGA has developed and made available for purchase promotional materials like posters, ribbons, buttons, stickers and brochures that tie in with this year's RGEW theme.
