| Gambling Disorders Explained: Understanding Prevalence Studies about Gambling Disorders How many people have a gambling problem? That is the simple question posed by prevalence studies on gambling disorders. However, media reports and scientific articles reveal that this is not a simple issue.
Prevention Programs: What Is Success? In its purest meaning, prevention suggests that something that might have happened didn't. Someone stopped smoking or did not start; someone stopped drinking and driving. When it comes to problem gambling, not an easy task to prove! How can you really know that a) someone was going to have a gambling problem and b) that the reason they don't have a gambling problem is due to a particular prevention initiative?
RocketFrog wants to revolutionize online gambling with real-world prizes Online gaming company RocketFrog is on a mission to revitalize how people play in virtual casinos. RocketFrog CEO and founder Brett Calapp thinks the social gambling market is primed for expansion, especially after the U.S. Justice Department changed its stance on its legality last December. The company is one more startup in the hot market of social casino game companies.
Social gambling to hit $100bn by 2017 A new Juniper report suggests a surge in social gambling activity, helped by the introduction of intrastate casino and lottery services in the US, will push the market up dramatically from just under $20 billion last year.
Gamblers can ban themselves from Ohio casinos The Ohio Casino Control Commission launched its "Voluntary Exclusion" program earlier this year, modeling it after other states with similar efforts. Today, 15 out of the 23 states with commercial casino gaming operate such programs, and many casino companies run their own voluntary exclusion programs, according to the American Gaming Association in Washington, D.C.
