Illinois to become first state to allow online lottery sales
Illinois on March 24th became the first state to sell individual lottery tickets online. It won't be the last.

A new survey has found that online gambling appeals more to women and the young.

The survey was commissioned by The Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at Richard Stockton College.

 

 The legislation would legalize online poker and bring it under state regulation.

Gambling has become a popular activity for people of many ages - and seniors are no exceptions. Like the rest of the population, most older adults can enjoy gambling as a form of recreation and social engagement. However, others may become problem gamblers.

 

Do impulsive kids make problem gamblers? 

This week, the WAGER reviews a longitudinal study that investigated how childhood impulsivity relates to gambling problems in adulthood.

Monday, May 21, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., Central Time

Presented by: Jim Wuelfing.  Participants will log in from their own computer for a 90 minute web-based session.  Registration Fee: $10 each.  This webinar will look at key components of a prevention of problem gambling program including utilizing a strategic planning framework, including multiple strategies over multiple domains and incorporating best practices in prevention design.
