Top 2012 Casino Industry Trends  An independent research firm, Spectrum Gaming Group, that services a number of clients, both public-sector and private-sector around the world, listed some of the top trends to be monitored in 2012 in regards to the worldwide casino industry. Here are some of the top trends.

Beyond the Casino Floor   To take a true measure of the direct, indirect and induced impacts of every aspect of the commercial casino industry, the AGA contracted with The Brattle Group, an economic analysis firm based in Washington, D.C., to conduct the largest and most comprehensive study of the total impact of the commercial casino industry in nearly 15 years.

Live Casinos to Lead 2012 Online Gambling Growth?  Bet365, the UK online gambling company, is predicting a dramatic surge in growth in online gambling in 2012, thanks to an increased use of live casinos. Live casinos first appeared 4 years ago and usage is growing year by year.

Research Paper -- Intelligent design: How to model gambler risk assessment by using loyalty tracking data  To inform ongoing debate, this paper will provide an overview of lessons learned through the authors' work in creating gambler risk assessment models by using loyalty data.

Crowdpark gets into casino-styled games on Facebook   Just a week after PopCap Games pushed out Lucky Gem Casino on Facebook to take advantage of the demand for casino-styled games on the social network, Berlin, Germany-based Crowdpark announced Tuesday the launching of two new casino-styled games for Facebook called Pet Vegas, a slot-machine game and peer-to-peer betting game AnteUp, which lets anyone easily make a bet with a friend.

 Training: Problem Gambling Clinical Aspects

This workshop is March 26-29th in Lincoln, NE.  Cost is @235.00.  This training is designed to provide students with knowledge of treatment issues specific to problem/pathological gambling including denial, resistance, minimization, family dynamics, relapse, spirituality, and influences of self-help groups as well as legal issues, treatment for significant others and special populations and specifically addresses the financial aspects of problem gambling.  

 

 35th Annual Governor's Conference on Substance Abuse  April 3-4 in Des Moines, Iowa.The Governor's Conference on Substance Abuse is suitable for substance abuse treatment providers, prevention specialists, social workers, mental health workers, nurses, clinicians and administrators, corrections professionals, problem gambling treatment providers, public health workers, civic leaders, and policy makers interested in substance abuse treatment, prevention and recovery.
