New High-Tech Slots Roll Out To Casinos
LAS VEGAS -- The next time you sit down a slot machine, be prepared to do a lot more than just pull a handle. New high-tech slots are making their way into casinos and the days of matching up lemons on a slot could be coming to an end.

Study: Gambling rings up one percent of US economy
WASHINGTON -- Casino gambling generates roughly one percent of US economic activity and some 820,000 jobs from direct and indirect spending, according to a study released by the industry Monday.

Strip casinos post 5.1 percent boost in winnings during 2011
The 37 casinos on the Las Vegas Strip won $6 billion in 2011, an increase of 5.1 percent from the previous year, the state Gaming Control Board reported Thursday.

Lottery popularity/purchasing remains strong, new survey reports
Economic uncertainty has done little to curb lottery popularity according to a recent report on lottery demographics and spending habits conducted by New York-based Scarborough Research. According to this new study of 210,000 adults aged 18 or older, 39 percent, or 91 million of all American adults, have purchased a lottery ticket in the past 30 days.
