Salvation Army Bell Ringing a HUGH Success
It was a fantastic year for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign, and it would not have happened without the 1485 hours donated by 85 Club volunteers, Key Clubs, Builders Club, Scout Troup, Cub Scout Troup, and a canine or two.

Major John Bennett graciously received the check for $40,700, 38% of which goes to children's programs, aligning with the MHKC mission.
The Club has raised $350,000 over the past 12 years for the Salvation Army. THANKS MHKC!! |

Neumann Systems Group (NSG)
Speaker: Louise Knauf, Senior Engineer
Scribe: Jim Head
Louise Knauf, Senior Engineer with NSG, Inc. gave a detailed briefing on NSG's NeuStream ultra-compact, advanced gas-liquid contactors for multi-pollutant control systems. The system is used for extracting gases and particulates from the coal fired electric generating plant at the Martin Drake Power Plant in Colorado Springs.
Louise gave us a quick picture of future fuel choices (coal, nuclear, natural gas, liquids or renewables) for electricity generation in the United States for the next 25 years. Coal will remain the primary source throughout this period due to its abundance and low cost. Coal's biggest downside is that it emits the highest amount of EPA regulated pollutants.
NeuStream capture and processing systems that NSG has developed is smaller in size than traditional scrubbers and offers lower capital expense and lower operating expense, factors that make NSG a good alternative for upgrading older power plant scrubbing systems.
