Guide on the Consistent Application of Traffic Analysis Tools and Methods (60 page PDF

The FHWA in support of the Traffic Analysis and Simulation Pooled Fund Study, initiated this study to identify and address consistency in the selection and use of traffic analysis tools. This document offers recommendations on the management, planning, and conduct of traffic analysis that will promote greater traffic analysis tool consistency over the typical project development life cycle.

Texas Transportation Institute:  The report is the first nationwide effort to identify reliability problems at specific stretches of highway responsible for significant traffic congestion at different times and different days. Analyses are performed along 328 specific (directional) freeway corridors in the United States.

The mission of the State Smart Transportation Initiative is to promote "smart transportation" practices that foster equitable economic development and environmental sustainability, while maintaining high standards of governmental efficiency and transparency.

U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics:  This is the eighth annual edition of the State Transportation Statistics, and a companion document to the National Transportation Statistics (NTS), which is updated quarterly on the BTS website.

 

This document presents transportation information from RITA/BTS, other federal government agencies, and other national sources. A picture of the states' transportation infrastructure, freight movement and passenger travel, system safety, vehicles, transportation related economy and finance, energy usage and the environment is presented in tables covering the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Tables have been updated with the most recently available data.

 

Included in this State Transportation Statistics 2010 report is a brief description of the data sources used and a glossary of terms. Also contained in this publication is a summary table that displays the approximate timing of future data releases and contact information for each state's department of transportation.

National Cooperative Highway Research Program:  NCHRP Report 706 describes how risk management and data management may be used by transportation agencies to support management target-setting for performance- based resource allocation. As the final product of a second phase of NCHRP Project 08-70, "Target-Setting Methods and Data Management to Support Performance-Based Resource Allocation by Transportation Agencies," this report supplements NCHRP Report 666 published in 2010.
