2012 National Spatial Data Infrastructure Cooperative Agreements Program (NSDI CAP)
Monday, November 14, from Noon - 1:00 p.m., CST OR Thursday, December 1, from Noon - 1:00 p.m, CST
Hosted by the Federal Geographic Data Committee. The purpose of NSDI CAP is to fund innovative projects in the geospatial data community to build the infrastructure necessary to effectively discover, access, share, manage and use digital geospatial data. Participants will learn what the NSDI CAP is and how to apply for this federally funded program.Participants will learn what the NSDI CAP is and how to apply for this federally funded program. The goal of the training is to provide information about: · The purpose, role and cooperative character of the NSDI CAP · Projects and activities that are eligible for CAP support · How to locate and access the CAP Web site, individuals, and informational resources available to support proposal development and submittal · CAP proposal and deliverable processes and requirements · How to prepare a proposal in accordance with the CAP schedule · Submitting a complete CAP proposal package via Grants.gov The 2012 NDSI CAP announcement should be posted on Grants.gov by the end of October and proposals will be accepted until January 24, 2012.

Employment, Transit and TOD
Tuesday, November 15, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., CST Hosted by the Center For Transit-Oriented Development and the FTA. Speakers will discuss new research on spatial employment patterns in our metropolitan areas, and the types of economic activity that are most likely to benefit from being near transit. Participants will also hear about the ways in which national research has been applied to inform regional economic development, transportation, and land use planning in the San Francisco Bay Area and Phoenix regions. Last, they will learn about the best practices across the nation in economic development incentives that support job growth and concentration in sustainable locations.

New Guidelines for Organizations Interested in Adopting Energy-Saving LED Streetlights
Tuesday, November, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., CST Hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on new recommendations for implementing energy-saving street lighting projects. Called the "Model Specification for LED Roadway Luminaires," the new guidelines were developed by members of DOE's Municipal Solid-State Street Lighting Consortium to assist cities, utilities, and other local agencies in selecting and securing the LED-or light emitting diode-lighting solutions that are best for them. The model specification was developed with feedback from a manufacturers' working group and can help organizations save money and energy by converting their street and roadway lighting to LED technology.
