Victory in Help for Homeowners - THANK YOU!
  House Puzzle

The Homeowners Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (HEMAP) will be reopening in the near future. Your letters, visits and calls helped to move SB 1433, which directs the Attorney General to use settlement funds to restore this vital program for the next 5 years. Restoration of HEMAP is a victory that will keep Pennsylvanians out of foreclosure and in their homes. Thanks be to God!

Advocates Say NO to Predatory Payday Lending
But We're Not Done Yet!

Your advocacy has resulted in twenty-three cosponsors of HB 2191 dropping support, which means legislators hearing us!  And so are out-of-state industry lobbyists who are increasing efforts to win an exemption from usury laws. When legislators are back in session June 4, we need to make it loud and clear  that 300% interest rates take advantage of vulnerable citizens are unacceptable.

We have momentum, but need to continue to push. Send an email today and follow up with a call to your Representative's office. Find more information here

Kathie Afflerbach Wants to #Keep PAGA
View video about it at  #Keep PAGA

LAMPa and our interfaith partners are fighting the proposed elimination of General Assistance (GA). Losing GA will be devastating for the 68,000 who rely on it now, and will increase homelessness and hunger. We have garnered good press, including quotes from Amy in this Delaware County Daily Times article, and in an AP story that was picked up by at least half a dozen papers. We are in the 11th hour and need your help. Take action here. Look for LAMPa at Synod Assemblies for a postcard campaign on GA.
Reduce Hunger By Reducing Carbon Emissions - Take Action!

ELCA World Hunger works to  reduce carbon emissions because climate change threatens food security. LAMPa is working with the National Council of Churches on  the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed carbon rule that would set a standard for the amount of carbon a new power plant can emit, with the goal of reducing emissions. Lend your voice and send an email to the EPA.
