Dear Amana Families and Community Members,
One of the most anticipated times of the year for Amana students is Expedition Showcase. Showcase happens twice a year and goes beyond the typical "science fair" type event by bringing together classwork across subjects, fieldwork, and expert input that went into learning expeditions. Motivation that drives learning was evident in showcases in all grades.

This week I had the opportunity to host a trustee of the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the program manager of the Johns Creek Environmental Campus; and both were awed by the quality of the student work displays and presentation. Thank you teachers for guiding our students to excellence, and thank you parents for supporting your children at home, supporting field studies and service projects.
Sincerely,
Ehab Jaleel,
Executive Director

Summer Reading Lists |
Dear Parents,
Please support your child's learning by encouraging them to read during the summer months. Studies show that when students continue to read over the summer it helps their literacy and academic performance, thus reducing summer learning loss. A great way to get motivated is by visiting your local public library and joining their summer reading program. Below are some helpful links for further information as well as some recommended reading lists.
For detailed information on the importance of summer reading, please browse this link.

New Immunization Requirements |
The State of Georgia has established immunization requirements for students entering Kindergarten and the sixth grade. Please check with your medical professional to see if your child may require additional immunizations in order to stay enrolled in middle school. If your child does not have the required vaccinations and a complete 3231 (State of GA immunizations form) on file at the school, your child will not be allowed to attend the first day of middle school for 2011-2012.
Please do not wait until the end of the summer to get your child immunized as this is one of the busiest times of year. Schedule your child's immunizations TODAY and thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions about your child's immunization requirements, please contact our school Data Clerk, Sheryl Hale.
