National Honor Society Investiture Ceremony |
At 6:30 pm, on Tuesday, January 25th, at the Milton Center auditorium, 16 middle school students and 35 fourth and fifth grade students were inducted into the Amana Academy Chapter of the NJHS and NEHS. These students were selected by the school's Faculty Council to be admitted into this prestigious society based on their scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. During the ceremony, each student took a pledge to uphold their promise of maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence and ethical character. By earning their place in this society, these students had to take on the responsibility of being a good influence on their fellow students and others in their community. Their membership demands that they continue to maintain the requirements of this association. Over 180 family members, friends, faculty, alumni and fellow students attended the candlelit ceremony.
NJHS officers, President Abdullah Budeir, VP Jahsi Conn, Treasurer Brandon Hill, Secretary Maryam Jaleel and Historian Ibraheem Jaleel as well as NEHS officers President Kayla Hedgepeth, VP Briana Okebalama, Secretary Morgan Rose, Controller Hadiyah Khan and Historian Husnain Raza spoke to the new members about the five cardinal principles of the society. The ceremony was a great success and we sincerely appreciate all the volunteers who helped make this year's event so special - Sadaf Qureshi, Hala Al-Bahloul, Linda Afani, Eman Afani, Khadeejah Farooq, Nada Diab, Tracy Blair, Kerry Swift-Budeir, Asmaa Zafar, Ahmed Khan, Allison Milton, Saima Zulfiqar, Sadia Tauha, Angelique Barnett, Sophy Shabana, Meena Baig, Pam Holloway, Nadine Ghalayini, Lynne Hedgepeth, Danna Al Tarkawi, Mary Bass, Shaista Begum, and Lauren Lewis. Many thanks to all the parents that have been logging their hours! A key indicator of a charter school's overall health is the community's level of volunteerism. Did you know that foundations and corporations look to the amount of support from our community before choosing the level at which they will support Amana? High participation in our fundraising campaigns (especially the Annual Fund) and volunteerism from our Amana community can and will help to produce a larger gift from a foundation or corporation. Your support has a powerful impact on the success of our school, so please log your volunteer hours today! For more information on how to get involved on campus or how you can help Amana from home, please contact Khadeejah Farooq, PIE's Volunteer Support Coordinator and thank you! |
