On 3/22/12, AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) joined business organizations and advocates in alerting the Obama Administration to the importance of the legal and policy issues surrounding the L-1 visa category, in light of anticipated new L-1 policy guidance from USCIS.

The Sign-On letter to the Obama administration comes on the heels of a letter submitted by Senators Grassley (R-IA) and Durbin (D-IL) to USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas, dated 3/7/12, urging him not to issue new guidance on the L-1B "specialized knowledge" standard that would ease the requirements for adjudicating such petitions.
