DOUBLES EVENT - TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

 

The Saturday morning event of a full weekend multi-event table tennis tourney

What: Doubles play. This means you and a partner of your choice can compete in turn with other "teams" of two players each - any age, any skill level, male or female. If not able to recruit a partner, efforts will be made to assign one on or by tournament day. Games are to eleven points, a match is best of three games during the early rounds, then best of five. Single elimination play will follow round robin qualifying play. Thus you are assured of playing at least two or more matches, even if your "A" game is missing that day.

         

Who: Sponsored by the San Antonio Table Tennis Club for any table tennis player, from age -9 to +90 and including any skill level whether novice or expert - just anyone who wants to enjoy some fun, spirited ping pong competition. Spectators are welcome - so bring your cheering squad.

 

Where: Alamo Family Fitness Center, 16675 Huebner Road, San Antonio, 78248  

 

When: Saturday morning, July 21, 2012, beginning at 9 AM - doors open at 8 AM  

 

Cost: $5 per player registration plus $10/player event fee  

 

Awards: 1st place $100/team; 2nd place $50/team; 3rd and 4th place medals or ribbons.

 

Procedure: Two players on each team. Each player will be ranked based on his/her individual USATT rating but ultimately as assigned by the SATTC tournament committee. If no USATT rating, consideration will be given to your self-rating chart (if submitted; see below) and/or previous SATTC club experience. The combined rating of your 2-player team will be set by the tournament committee and cannot exceed 3200 rating points.

   Example: If Player A has a rating of 1560 and Player B is at 1230, their combined rating equals 2790, which is well within the upper limit of 3200.

   Registration deadline is Wednesday, July 18, 2012.
