Highlights from Our Action-Packed, All-Day Session This Past Saturday | |
Grace Thomson working with the lead section
| | Leonard Walston in performance mode | Posted to my Facebook page this weekend...
I have never been more proud of my brothers with Nashville Singers than I am today. All of you rose to the occasion at our ALL-DAY rehearsal, coaching, riser placement, and recording session. We reached levels of artistry and musicality never attained by this group...and it's only September 22!! Kudosto all the men of the Nashville Singers , my associate director Sloan Yarborough, our uber-talented coach Grace Thomson, and to former member and musician extraordinaire Leonard Walston for your friendship and for making the trek from Cincinnati to engineer our session, and for sharing some inspiration words at the end of our long, but fulfilling day. I am soooooo blessed! - Todd Wilson
We were treated to a reunion of Amore 4, performing their signature song, That's Amore. Thank you to Bruce, Doug, Pierre and Ric for bringing back some great memories.
The chorus moved up to the sanctuary for about 90 minutes in the afternoon to capture some recordings of 10 of our newer songs for evaluation and promotional purposes.
Franklin Willis, choral director of Oliver Middle School stopped by for a bit to listen to a bit of our recording session. His glowing feedback was music to our ears.
I had the pleasure of visiting Mr. Willis' 7th and 8th grade choir class earlier this week. It is obvious he is making a big impact on those kids. Nashville Singers is lending a hand with a $500 music education grant to help support his music program.
Members of the Nashville Singers will be presenting a master class on "the art of a cappella singing" to his students in the coming weeks.
If you would like to schedule a master class at your school, please visit our website for details.

Feedback from One of Our Members
As mentioned above, we recorded 10 of our newer songs on Saturday, for evaluation and perhaps promotional use, and to give the members more accurate rehearsal reference tracks than than the now outdated learning media. That led to the following exchange from one of our newer member, published with his permission.
I was emotionally moved by the recordings. A pride likened unto what a parent feels in hearing their child speak for the first time, knowing they have had a part in the production. What a blessing to be a part of such an endeavor of accomplishment. - Dr. Lenny Farmer
