Meet Our Newest Member!

Michael Michael has been steeped in music for as long as he can remember, starting with piano at 7 and drums at 10. That escalated into marching band, pep band, drum line, concert band, and jazz band in high school, but it wasn't until his freshman year at the University of Mizzou that he learned the joys of choral singing. Now that he sells choir music full-time for Christian label/publisher Word Music, it just comes second nature. Michael also has a long history of praise band participation, and serves in a number of different ministries and service projects for Crosspoint Church. He is a recent magna cum laude graduate of Belmont University's Music Business program, and, on the more extreme side of singing, is also the front man for a Nashville progressive metal group called Invicta. A typical evening will find Michael glued to his computer, or singing in some form or fashion.

Arranger Profile Naomi Crellin
Naomi

Naomi sings alto with the critically acclaimed vocal ensemble known as The Idea of North.  Their repertoire steeped in jazz but comfortably crossing over into pop, gospel, folk and comedy.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice from the Elder Conservatorium at the University of Adelaide in Australia, and has been a member of many choirs, orchestras and ensembles throughout her career.

In addition, Naomi has played a wide range of musical instruments including piano, cello and oboe. A founding member of two vocal groups in Adelaide, Naomi has produced CDs for both groups and toured widely both within Australia and in Europe. She won the Young Australian Composer of the Year Award (1996) and Best Undergraduate Vocalist Award (2001) from the Elder Conservatorium. Naomi has also studied voice, conducting, piano and jazz ballet, and has taught piano, vocal and choral students for several years.

After joining The Idea of North in early 2002, Naomi quickly became a significant contributor to the group's repertoire through her writing and arranging and has also utilized her extensive choral training and experience in taking a major responsibility for managing the group's rehearsals and educational activities.

Nashville Singers performs her arrangement of "Man in the Mirror."
