Barbershop Harmony Society
Announces New CEO/Executive Director
(Excerpt from a special July 20th issue of "The Livewire")
The Barbershop Harmony Society is pleased to announce the appointment of its new CEO/Executive Director. Twenty-three-year member Martin "Marty" Monson was named to the post after an extensive search process conducted by the Barbershop Harmony Society's Board of Directors and the search firm Genovese, Vanderhoof & Associates. Nearly 60 candidates, many with extensive musical and association management experience, were considered for the position.
Marty is currently president and owner of Visual Communication Advisors, a strategic planning consulting firm. Prior to that, he was vice president of business development for Glowpoint, a telecommunications and teleconferencing company.
"I am honored by the opportunity to serve the Barbershop Harmony Society in this capacity," Marty said. "I'm eager to get started."
Marty, his wife, Amy, and their children, Stefany and Luke, will relocate to Nashville, Tenn. in the near future. He will officially begin his duties at the Society's Nashville headquarters on August 13, 2012.

Meet Our Two Newest Guests
We were blessed with two very talented guests last week.
Michael Collins, our 2012 Educator of the Future scholarship winner stopped by to thank the chorus for his $1000 scholarship and sang several songs in the lead section. He just graduated from McGavock High School and played french horn in the band. He wants to be a band director and will be attending MTSU this fall in pursuit of a music education degree.

Bob Allen heard about Nashville Singers on Facebook and comes to us with a very rich performing background. He graduated from North Central Michigan College with a degree in musical theater and has a degree in music education from Texas A&M University. He sings tenor and is also a member of Nashville in Harmony.
When asked what he liked most about his first Nashville Singers rehearsal, he replied, "Everyone's dedication to professionalism, musical excellence and diligent use of the time. Obviously, you all have a lot of fun, but you're also serious about what you're doing and spend the time wisely. It was a thrill to be around great singers!"

What's a QR Code?

The "QR" in this term refers to quick response. Much like the one pictured here, it is similar to the UPC code found on grocery and other retail items which are scanned at the cash register. Quick-Response codes allow barcode-reading software in a mobile phone camera to act as a scanner. When scanned with the appropriate app, QR codes can direct the user's browser to a website. Scanning this code will take you to the Nashville Singers website. Give it a try.
