Nashville Singers Performing for 250 of Tennessee's Top Music Educators This Thursday
The Tennessee Arts Academy has invited Nashville Singers to perform a 27-minute set of music for 250 of the top music educators in Tennessee at Belmont's Massey Hall at 11:30am on Thursday, July 12, 2012.
The concert is FREE and open to the public. The Tennessee Arts Academy is a spectacular week of inspiration, practical teaching workshops, wonderful performances by regional and national artists, and networking. The TAA began in 1987 and has evolved into the nation's premier program for professional development in arts education. The Academy trains over 250 teachers every summer, who in turn impact over 100,000 Tennessee students each year. In 2002, with the addition of the Arts Academy America component, arts teachers from outside Tennessee now have the opportunity to become full participants in the Academy experience.

Video of the Week
 | | Accent - "Gold Mine" (Take 6 cover) |
Accent is a "virtual" sextet representing five different countries:
Soprano: Jean-Baptiste Craipeau, France ( http://www.youtube.com/jbcraipeau )
Alto: Simon Åkesson, Sweden ( http://www.youtube.com/sak0506 )
Tenor 1: Danny Fong, Canada ( http://www.youtube.com/daniscool99 )
Tenor 2: Andrew Kesler, Canada ( http://www.youtube.com/andrewkesler )
Baritone: James Rose, United Kingdom ( http://www.youtube.com/jrosejazz )
Bass: Evan Sanders, USA ( http://www.youtube.com/strad43 )
Notes from their YouTube video...
We'd been discussing a project for a while, and we knew it would be an enormous task, but the obvious choice was to choose something from the Take 6 catalog. What better tribute than the first cut off their first album? It's hard to believe this track was released 23 years ago, because the arrangement is still as fresh as ever. The tune was written by Claude McKnight and Mervyn Warren, and arranged by Mervyn Warren. Jean-Baptiste transcribed it, and we stacked our parts from bottom to top. Evan edited and mixed the audio. Andrew mastered the audio and edited the video. Our video concept is a reference to the original album cover.
After all of the time we've spent discussing ideas, critiquing each other's performances, and basically just cracking each other up on Facebook Chat, it feels like we all know each other, even though we've never worked together in person. Perhaps one day that will change... |
