Nashville Singers Is Seeking Additional Community and/or Organizational Leaders to Serve on our 2013 Advisory Board
Advisory Board FAQ
Q: What is an advisory board?
A: An advisory board is a collection of individuals who bring unique knowledge and skills which complement the knowledge and skills of the formal board members in order to more effectively govern the organization. We are seeking some dedicated volunteer corporate and city leaders, and members of the education, performing arts, and non-profit community in Middle Tennessee.
Q: How does the advisory board function?
A: A job description is provided. However, the primary functions of the Nashville Singers (NSI) Advisory Board includes offering advice and making non-binding recommendations to the NSI Board of Directors or Executive Director on the following topics:
- Providing advice on developing an audience
- Providing advice on how to move to the "next level"
- Providing advice on management
- Providing advice on marketing
- Providing advice on potential collaborations
- Providing advice on fund raising
- Providing names of advisory board candidates
- Serving as goodwill ambassadors;
- Evaluating the work of the board of directors
- Evaluating what the chorus has accomplished
- Recruiting members who will make a support commitment with respect to matters within the areas of their experience and expertise.
Q: How many people serve on the advisory board?
A: We currently have eight advisers. However, the ideal Advisory Board would have 10+ members.
Q: Who chooses the advisory board members?
A: Advisory Board member candidates are typically recruited by the Executive Director, but are formally approved by the NSI Board of Directors. The Board of Directors takes the Advisory Board's recommendations under advisement. One member of the Advisory Board members would typically be appointed to serve as Advisory Board Chair.
Q: How often does the advisory Board meet?
A: The Advisory Board meets face to face for a dinner meeting in the spring and the fall, and once in the summer via teleconference.
Advisory Board Member benefits include:
- Two (2) concert tickets "comped" annually
- Your name/company name on the Advisory Board page of Nashville Singers website (6000 visitors annually)

If you are interested in serving as a member of the 2013 Nashville Singers Advisory Board, please download and complete the Candidate Application Form and Candidate Questionnaire and return both documents to Executive Director, Todd Wilson by August 15, 2012. If you would prefer these documents in Word format, they will be provided on request.
