Nashville Singers, Inc. is a 501(C)3 non-profit corporation and performing arts organization founded in 2008.
The members range in age from teenagers to retirees and reside in Brentwood, Hermitage, LaVergne, Lebanon, Nashville, Joelton, and Smyrna.
The group meets at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church the first three Thursday evenings of each month from 7-10pm. Membership in Nashville Singers is open to all men who demonstrate the ability, desire, and a commitment to excellence in vocal and choral performance.

Studio For Next Recording Project Finalized
After a tw o-year break, on August 25 and September 8, Nashville Singers will be back in the studio working on a new recording of Christmas holiday favorites.
Playground Studios is located in the trendy Berry Hill studio community of Music City. Their newly remodeled studios, lounges and break rooms promise to provide continued inspiration as we embark on this new journey together.
We are very grateful to Regi Stone and Tim Coyle at Playground Studios and to Bruce Cokeroft for making this union possible.

Advisory Board Member Profile
Don Hart is an award-winning, multi-faceted musician with expertise in arranging, composing and producing music for live events, recordings, and print. His extensive list of clients include Trey Anastasio, Martina McBride, Collective Soul, Lyle Lovett, Lee Brice, Amy Grant, The Mavericks, Steven Curtis Chapman, Bill Frisell, Darrell Scott, Tim O'Brien, Jennie Riddle, Wynonna, Randy Travis, JJ Heller, Sam Bush, Andy Williams, John Jorgenson, Nanci Griffith, and many others. Don's arrangements and compositions have been recorded for a variety of uses, and his work has been performed by many of the finest symphonic organizations, including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Atlanta Symphony, the Nashville Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Baltimore Symphony.
Don received a Grammy nomination in 2006 for his arrangement of 'Scary Things' from the award winning children's album 'Kid Pan Alley Nashville' (Parents' Choice Gold Award and NAPPA Gold Award). He did the string arrangements on Randy Travis' 2005 Grammy winning album 'Worship and Praise', and provided the iconic arrangement on the Martina McBride single, 'In My Daughter's Eyes', seen on the 2003 CMA awards telecast. Don has also received advertising's Clio award, and Gospel Music's Dove award. Hal Leonard, Word Entertainment, Shawnee Press, Lorenz and Latham Music are among the companies that have published Don's instrumental and choral arrangements, and he has arranged and orchestrated for McGraw-Hill's music curriculum series. His compositions for broadcast have been heard nationally on network and cable TV.
In recent years Don has been commissioned to compose a variety of new works. These include 'Time Turns Elastic', a symphonic piece featuring electric guitar and voice, composed with and for Trey Anastasio; the Gypsy-jazz influenced 'Concerto Glasso', with guitarist John Jorgenson; the score for Nashville Ballet's production of 'The Velveteen Rabbit' with the Nashville Symphony; 'Concertino for Two Mandolins, Guitar and Strings' for the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Don and his wife Kathy live in Nashville, TN. Their son Patrick is a graduate student at McGill University, and their daughter Justine recently graduated from the University of Iowa.

Music Evaluation Committee Meets
This new group had its first face to face meeting on the evening of May 31 for the purpose of evaluating the music plan for the 2013 concert season. Eight excellent candidates for inclusion i n our repertoire have been identified, including three new Christmas songs. A few more uptempo selections are still being pursued. Details will be published as soon as they are finalized. Kudos to Sloan Yarborough, Ric Domenico, Bryan Patrick, and Taylor Wilson for your contributions to this important process.

This Day in Music

June 4, 1942 - Glenn Wallichs launched Capitol Records in the US. The label became home to such artists as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Glen Campbell, Steve Miller, Dr. Hook, Bob Seger, Tina Turner, Heart and countless others. Wallichs was the man who invented the art of record promotion by sending copies of new releases to disc jockeys.

The Westminster Chorus singing a Jay Giallombardo, composition of "Sure On This Shining Night" in the Petrikirche, a Protestant church (start of construction 1322) in Dortmund, Germany. The church is famous for the huge carved altar (known as "Golden Miracle of Dortmund"), from 1521. It consists of 633 gilt carved oak figures depicting 30 scenes about Easter.
At 3:40 some of you will recognize a familiar face in the audience.
