| About Us |
Nashville Singers, Inc. is a 501(C)3 non-profit corporation and performing arts organization founded in 2008.
The members range in age from teenagers to retirees and reside in Brentwood, Hermitage, LaVergne, Lebanon, Nashville, Joelton, and Smyrna.
The group meets at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church the first three Thursday evenings of each month from 7-10pm. Membership in Nashville Singers is open to all men who demonstrate the ability, desire, and a commitment to excellence in vocal and choral performance.

Nashville Singers to Perform for 250 of the Top Music Educators in Tennessee
The Tennessee Arts Academy has invited Nashville Singers to perform a 27-minute set of music for 250 of the top music educators in Tennessee at Belmont's Massey Hall at 11:30am on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The Tennessee Arts Academy is a spectacular week of inspiration, practical teaching workshops, wonderful performances by regional and national artists, and networking. The TAA began in 1987 and has evolved into the nation's premier program for professional development in arts education. The Academy trains over 250 teachers every summer, who in turn impact over 100,000 Tennessee students each year. In 2002, with the addition of the Arts Academy America component, arts teachers from outside Tennessee now have the opportunity to become full participants in the Academy experience.

Important Deadlines for Music Educators!
April 15, 2012 - Application deadline for the Music Makes a Difference music education grant program. Two $500 grants are available this year.
April 30, 2012 - Application deadline for the Educator of the Future college scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing a music education degree. One scholarship of $1000 is available this year.

Nashville Singers is very grateful to Brett and Brandrea Sweeney of North Canton, Ohio for donating $500 to sponsor the cost one of our two Music Makes a Difference grants to be awarded in 2012. Brett and Brandrea traveled to Nashville on March 24 so Brett could participate in the Acappella Academy free singing lesson program.

Titanic - Pigeon Forge Performance Sold Out!
All 4000 tickets have been sold!
As reported in last week's newsletter, Nashville Singers is performing at the grand opening of the new Titanic museum and exhibit in Pigeon Forge, as part of a musical tribute recognizing the100th Anniversary of the sinking of the ship. Other performers include the Circle Players, the Sound Company Children's Choir, and the Jon Shell
Grandfather Mountain Highlanders.
Songs to be performed: The Lord's Prayer, Danny Boy, May the Good Lord Above Bless and Keep You One and All Til We Meet and We Sing Again, and the Reprise of Godspeed Titanic with the full cast. Music and an MP3 was sent to NSI members yesterday;
Costuming: Black tuxedo, white tux shirt, black bow tie, studs, provided by Ambassador FormalWear by Gilda (will be transported in the van)
Chorus members need to bring for the sound check: string pants, black NSI polo, black belt, socks, and shoes
Chorus members need to bring for the performance: white tee shirt, black shoes, black socks

Revised Music Memorization Schedule
Here is the memorization timetable for the rest of the 2012 songs:

NOTE: If it become apparent that one of our members does not know their music by these dates, the singer in question will be asked to step down from the risers for that segment of the rehearsal.

April 12 - Next rehearsal
April 14 - Performance at music tribute honoring the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in Pigeon Forge, TN
May 7 - Lunchtime performance at FiftyForward on Rains Avenue to celebrate the release of the new compilation CD, featuring Nashville Singers. Chorus call 11:45am. 15-minute performance starting at noon. We will be wearing the casual uniform with the black blazer.
May 19 - Possible road trip to Cleveland, TN to enjoy the concert featuring the Suntones, Vocal Spectrum, and Four Voices. Informal performance opportunity possible.
SUMMER 2012
July 12 - Performance at Tennessee Arts Academy, Massey Hall at Belmont University - 10:00am sound check for those that can make it, chorus call at 11:00am, performance at 11:30am; Attire: Dress uniform, String pants, white long-sleeve button down shirt, long red tie, black blazer, belt, socks and shoes;

August 25 - Recording session #1 for new Christmas CD, Extra rehearsal/PVI (private voice instruction) for every singer, provided by Grace Thomson, 9am to 4pm (location TBD)
