Nashville Singers, Inc. is a 501(C)3 non-profit corporation and performing arts organization founded in 2008.
The members range in age from teenagers to retirees and reside in Brentwood, Hermitage, LaVergne, Lebanon, Nashville, Joelton, and Smyrna.
The group meets at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church the first three Thursday evenings of each month from 7-10pm. Membership in Nashville Singers is open to all men who demonstrate the ability, desire, and a commitment to excellence in vocal and choral performance.

Important Deadlines for Music Educators!
April 15, 2012 - Application deadline for the Music Makes a Difference music education grant program. Two $500 grants are available this year.
April 30, 2012 - Application deadline for the Educator of the Future college scholarships for graduating seniors pursuing a music education degree. One scholarship of $1000 is available this year.

Nashville Singers Wows the Audience at Belmont

Students packed into Belmont Universitiy's Massey Hall last Tuesday evening for a concert featuring the all-female acappella group Session. Belmont's Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Jane Warren, a member of the Nashville Singers Advisory Board invited the chorus to open the event. The chorus performed Happy Together, Obl La Di ObLa Da, and Danny Boy, Blew By You, Man in the Mirror, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight and received a fabulous response from the young crowd.

Acappella Academy Participation Increases 300%

March 24 was a day was a day filled with harmony created by a gathering of 40 men, women and students from schools and universities across Middle Tenness
 | | Caitlyn Green | ee and as far away as Ohio. The event was held at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church. With the help of clinicians Grace Thomson, Sloan Yarborough, and Todd Wilson, those in attendance improved their skills in the art of acappella singing while learning two new songs. After working from 9:00am to 4:00pm, 24 of the participants returned to perform at a free concert featuring performances by singer/songwriter Caitlyn Green, the Nashville Singers, and a mixed choir made up of the men of Nashville Singers and 11 participants from the Acappella Academy program.

StoryCorps Coming to Nashville
If you are a regular listener to NPR affiliate WPLN, no doubt you have heard some of the touching stories presented by StoryCorps. This independent nonprofit's mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives. Since 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 40,000 interviews from nearly 80,000 participants. Each conversation is recorded on a free CD to share, and is preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind, and millions listen to their weekly broadcasts on NPR's Morning Edition.
The StorpCorps Airstream mobile recording studio will be in Nashville from May 3rd through June 2nd and will be recording 140 new s tories during their visit to Nashville. Nashville Singers believe in the power of collaboration with other non-profit organizations and has agreed to become a community partner with StoryCorps, to help secure people interested in telling their story. April 5 - Next rehearsal
April 14 - Extra rehearsal & PVI (private voice instruction) for every singer, provided by Grace Thomson, 9am to 4pm (location TBD)
May 7 - Lunchtime performance at FiftyForward on Rains Avenue to celebrate the release of the new compilation CD, featuring Nashville Singers. Chorus call 11:45am. 15-minute performance starting at noon. We will be wearing the casual uniform with the black blazer.
