Nashville Singers Performs for the Greatest Audience Ever!
 | | AcaBelles - Florida State University |
The International Championship of Collegiate A cappella (ICCA) South Semi-Finals competition was held at Vanderbilt's Martha Ingram Hall on Saturday evening, St. Patrick's Day. The event was a complete SELL OUT with over 600 lovers of a cappella singing in attendance from across the country. The audience was treated to exhilarating performances by eight of the country's best collegiate a cappella groups. Nashville Singers was asked to deliver a 30-minute set while the judges tabulated the scores. We performed nine songs, including three that enjoyed their public debut after only seven rehearsals. The roar of the crowd was DEAFENING and we felt like rock stars. While the contemporary songs went over very well, the hit of the evening was Bruce Cokeroft's solo on Danny Boy, one of the most famous Irish songs of all time.

This Day in Music
March 19, 1996 - he second Beatles Anthology series was released. The album featured 'Real Love', a track the remaining members of the Beatles recorded using an old demo track of John Lennon's. The song was first recorded by Lennon in 1977 with a handheld tape recorder on his piano at home, it originated as part of an unfinished stage play that Lennon was working on at the time entitled "The Ballad of John and Yoko."

Correction from Last Week
The Music City Chorus did qualify to compete at the International Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society, but last fall, not last weekend. They DID win the Dixie District Chorus Championship in Gladsden, Alabama last weekend. Congrats to a great group of singers.
