Nashville Singers, Inc. is a 501(C)3 non-profit corporation and performing arts organization founded in 2008.
The members range in age from teenagers to retirees and reside in Brentwood, Hermitage, LaVergne, Lebanon, Nashville, Joelton, and Smyrna.
The group meets at Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church the first three Thursday evenings of each month from 7-10pm. Membership in Nashville Singers is open to all men who demonstrate the ability, desire, and a commitment to excellence in vocal and choral performance.

A cappella A cademy Scheduled for March 24
Nashville Singers is offering more FREE SINGING LESSONS!
For a second-consecutive year, Nashville Singers is offering free singing lessons to aspiring singers in Middle Tennessee. Whether you're in high school or a senior citizen, this program is open to men and women of all ages. If you are interested in improving your singing in a positive, supportive, fun and creative environment, sign up for A cappella A cademy today! These lessons are full of valuable and creative opportunities for skill, talent and knowledge growth. The clinicians are excellent. The content is rich and exciting. You'll receive a combination of technical and artistic vocal training, covering the following areas:
- Breathing-posture, breath support and control for singing freely produced tones
- Resonance-tone placement, emotional color and blend
- Vowels-target sounds, diction and diphthongs
|
- Rhythm-creating precise synchronization
- Dynamics-use of soft/loud ranges to create meaning and artistic joy
- Artistry - something magical that can happen when notes and words become second nature
|
Q: Do I have to register, or can I just show up? A: Please register online or by calling 615-669-8633. However, walk-ins are welcome.
WHEN: The program will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 beginning at 9:00am through 4:00pm, including a one hour lunch break and two 15-minute restroom breaks.
WHERE: Whitworth Memorial Baptist Church, 3014 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville, TN 37214
The singing lessons will be presented in a warm, friendly atmosphere appropriate to both beginners and experienced singers. Each lesson will provide time for a vocal warm-up, plus group instruction taught by an experienced music educators and directors from the artistic staff of Nashville Singers. The instruction is provided free of charge. Regardless of your level of experience, do not miss out on this fabulous opportunity. Make this the season you enhance your vocal and artistic talents while having fun and enjoying singing. You will not regret it. Lesson space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. You may register alone or with a friend who likes to sing. .
THE BEST PART: You're invited to join Nashville Singers that night at 7:00pm when we present a free mini-concert for your friends and family. You'll be able to join us on stage to sing the songs we've learned together.

Young Voices Impacted by Master Class
with John Overton HS Chamber Choir
Grace Thomson and several members of Nashville Singers presented a 90-minute Master Class on the "art of a cappella singing" to the John Overton High School Chamber Choir on January 24. The boys were rehearsing "I Want to be a Billionaire" by Bruno Mars and "Jai Ho" from the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire. Overton High School was also the recipient of the 2011 Music Makes a Difference music education grant. Applications are being accepted for two more grants through April 15, 2012. |

Music Education Grants
 What's new this year? - Increased access to funding - Last year, this grant funding was limited to Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) in Davidson County. In 2012, funding will be available to any school or independent music program in Middle Tennessee.
- Increased funding - Last year we were able to fund one $500 grant. Due to our success in 2011, in 2012 we will be offering two $500 grants.

One of the premier choral organizations on the planet celebrated a huge milestone in Dallas this past weekend. Some 450 people assembled at the Frontier of Flight Museum at Love Field on January 28. Special reunion performances from several quartets were included in the festivities including ACOUSTIX (with original bass-singer Jeff Oxley), the Class of the 80s, Dallas Knights, and the Folkel Minority.
Award-winners - Mark Lampe (Barbershopper of the Year), Quinn Hunter (Ring of Honor) and Nick Alexander (Ring of Honor) award winners.
