Big News from Big D!

vm announcement

Jim Clancy, Jeff Oxley and Greg Clancy
after the announcement at Vocal Majority rehearsal last Thursday.

JEFF OXLEY AND GREG CLANCY ACCEPT NEW POSITIONS WITH THE VOCAL MAJORITY CHORUS®

This week, Dallas's internationally recognized Vocal Majority® Chorus, made two major announcements. First, it was announced that Jeff Oxley has accepted the position of primary Musical Director for The Vocal Majority® Chorus.  Mr. Oxley has held the position of Associate director since 2009.  Todd Roberts, Vocal Majority Board President remarked "Jeff has been an invaluable member of the Chorus for a number of years, acting as section leader, soloist and Associate Director.  We are thrilled to have Jeff accept the position of primary Musical Director for the Chorus."

Also, The Vocal Majority® Chorus, announced that Greg Clancy will be joining Executive Director Jim Clancy and Musical Director Jeff Oxley as the Chorus's new Creative Director.  Greg Clancy has been associated with The Vocal Majority® Chorus for more than 30 years - during the past three years Mr. Clancy has been on a leave of absence.

According to Board President, Todd Roberts "We are excited to have Greg return to the Vocal Majority and are looking forward to his help in developing new directions for the Chorus as well as expanding the Chorus's creative vision.  We are truly honored to have these three men lead the Chorus.  Their unique mix of talents brings something special to the Chorus leadership".  Musical Director Jeff Oxley shares this sentiment "Greg and I have know each other and worked together for a number of years.  I'm very pleased to have him return to the The Vocal Majority® Chorus, and thrilled to have the opportunity to once again work with my good friend.  Together, Jim, Greg, and I look forward to taking this Chorus to new heights."

Executive Director, Jim Clancy summarized the announcements this way, "I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work with these fine musicians, and I truly believe that our best years are ahead of us."

This year, The Vocal Majority® Chorus will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary as an award winning pops Chorus.  To kick-off this celebration, the Chorus will be hosting a banquet celebrating the milestone this weekend. This event will pay tribute to all who helped create the beautiful and unique harmony during the Chorus's 40 year history.

Nashville Singers members Todd and Taylor Wilson and will be attending the festivities in Dallas this weekend. Todd has been a member of the Vocal Majority since 1982, performed with the chorus during six of their 11 international championships, and served on the VM music staff for over a decade

The MET Singers (a group from Choral Arts Link) performed on the Nashville Singers 2011 Season of Harmony concert. The MET Singers have performed regularly with The Nashville Symphony Orchestra, lending their voices to the annual Let Freedom Sing concert, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The annual event is held at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

The 2012 concert took place on January 15. As Grace Thomson and Todd Wilson were Guest Artists at CAL's 2011 Singing in the City event, they were invited to attend as special guests, and join some of the Choral Arts Link staff and board at a post concert reception.

Todd and Margaret met again on January 20 to explore future collaborative opportunities between our two organizations.
