Dear ,
Like most arts organizations, Nashville Singers cannot provide its programs without support from a variety of sources. These income sources include special events, performance fees, merchandising, advertising, in-kind sponsorships, and DONATIONS from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Concert ticket sales account for less than half of the annual budget of the chorus. Your donations will help us finance the remainder of our operating costs and outreach activities.
Choosing a cause to support expresses your deepest values and reflects your vision of the world and of yourself. When you make a gift to Nashville Singers, we want to make sure it reflects your vision. Whether you consider giving an unrestricted gift, to be used where the need is greatest, or you want to support one of our music education, grant, or scholarship programs, you can be sure that we will steward your gift in a way the best reflects your intention.
Your private gifts to Nashville Singers make a world of difference for students and adults impacted by our programs, whatever the form or amount. This special (end of the year) email focuses on several ways you can support Nashville Singers, and provides information and examples to help you make these important decisions.
Together, we can change lives through music!

Middle & High School Master Classes

These in school visits introduce young singers to the exciting art of a cappella singing. A cappella is enjoying resurgence in popularity through network TV programs like Glee and The Sing-Off. Music educators have struggled for many years to convince boys to participate in school choral programs. Many have discovered that introducing young men to a cappella singing (done well) provides the much needed hook to capture and retain their students. These master classes are presented in a warm, friendly atmosphere appropriate to both beginners and experienced singers. The content is rich and exciting, and provides program participants with a combination of technical and artistic vocal and performance training in the following areas:- Breathing-posture, breath support and control for singing freely produced tones
- Resonance-tone placement, emotional color and blend
- Vowels-target sounds, diction and diphthongs
- Rhythm-creating precise synchronization
- Dynamics-use of soft/loud ranges to create meaning and artistic joy
- Artistry-something magical that can happen when notes and words become second nature
- Showmanship-creating a connection between the performer and the audience through appropriate visuals that help reflect and reinforce the message of a song

The lessons are open to men and women and presented in a warm, friendly atmosphere appropriate to both beginners and experienced singers. The instructors are excellent. The content is rich and exciting, and provides program participants with a combination of technical and artistic vocal and performance training In its inaugural year, A cappella Academy attracted nine participants from seven cities in Davidson, Cheatham, Robertson, and Williamson Counties in Tennessee, and one gentleman who traveled 300 miles round-trip from his home in Arab, Alabama.

How to Give
Annual Gifts These are spent on current program needs-they have tangible, immediate impacts that open the doors of opportunity for students and adults impacted by our programs.
Gifts in Memory or Celebration One of the greatest ways to honor a person, in grief or in celebration, is to give a gift in their memory. Nashville Singers welcomes gifts made in memory or in honor of special individuals. A memorial or celebratory gift can be unrestricted or you can designate your gift to a particular program. You may consider establishing an endowed fund, such as a scholarship that will carry the name of the person you choose to honor.
Endowment Gifts Major investments that create a permanent legacy, which can bear the name of the donor or honor another individual chosen by the donor. Most highly valued, endowments provide annual payouts in perpetuity for such purposes as music education grants to needy schools, and scholarships for students pursuing a music education degree. They grow with inflation and increase in value over time.

Options for Estate Planning Planned Gifts that Provide Funds in the Future

Q: What are some of the most commonly used assets for funding planned gifts?
A: Certain assets you possess may make you a good candidate for a charitable gift plan, which can be designed to further your own personal estate planning goals and support charities that you care about, such as the Nashville Singers. A planned gift often allows donors to make a contribution larger than might otherwise be possible through outright gifts, and can result in significant tax benefits to you.
The following planned giving ideas suggest some of the ways you may prefer to give.
Outright Bequest One of the simplest ways to support the Nashville Singers, a bequest provides a gift for the foundation in your will. If you already have a will, simply instruct your attorney to prepare a codicil to your current will or living trust.
Life Insurance or Retirement Plan Assets By naming the Nashville Singers as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, any premiums paid qualify for charitable income tax deductions. Naming the Nashville Singers as a beneficiary of all or part of your retirement plan proceeds is one of the most cost-effective ways of making a gift and will protect those assets from both income and estate taxes.
Charitable Gift Annuity A charitable gift annuity is an agreement between you and the Nashville Singers that provides you with regular fixed payments annually for life in exchange for transferring assets to the Nashville Singers. You will get a charitable deduction in the year of your gift and for a certain number of years a portion of your income will be tax-free.
