performing Danny Boy

This past week at the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2011 International Convention, almost 6,000 people at Kansas City's Sprint Center, honored and celebrated the Suntones on the 50th Anniversary of their international quartet championship.  Gene Cokeroft, father of Nashville Singers member Bruce Cokeroft, Bob Franklin, and two other Nashville Singers members, Harlan Wilson and son Todd Wilson, joined forces to present several performances from July 7 through 9 and stunned audiences with a level of artistry and showmanship reminiscent of the legendary quartet in their prime.  Hundreds of photos and fan feedback can be viewed at www.facebook.com/suntones

Speaking of the Suntones...

The song showcased in this skit, Don't Put Santa in Prison" is filled with punch lines, shows The Great One and his sidekick in action, and dates back several decades. More information about the Suntones can be viewed at  www.thesuntones.com

Ask the Executive Director

Wilson

Q: How has Nashville Singers been able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time?

A: Make no mistake about it, our success has required thousands of hours of planning and behind-the-scenes hard work. These are the strategies for success that guide everything we do:

  1. Have fun!
  2. Have a dream and create a plan to make that dream a reality
  3. Expect more, get more
  4. Present a quality product and image
  5. Create and nurture a customer service culture that permeates all levels of the organization
  6. Make a commitment to analysis and feedback.
  7. Preserve the core/stimulate progress
  8. Focus our limited resources on programs that support our mission and vision
  9. Educate, inspire, recognize, and monitor the effectiveness of our leaders
  10. Learn from and respond to change
  11. Willingness to explore and implement modifications to our governance and management structure to improve organizational efficiency
  12. Build alliances - seek partners that complement our mission, and leverage the talent within those alliances
  13. Serve our community
  14. Embrace technology and the internet
  15. Become attractive to outside funding
  16. Secure funding to implement our plans and programs
  17. Model the best practices of other successful non-profit organizations
  18. Resist the fear of failure
