ACOUSTIX
performing The Star Spangled Banner at Game 5 of the NBA Finals
|
ACOUSTIX was judged best in the world in 1990 at their very first International Competition. Once winning the International Gold Medal of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the were no longer eligible for competition. They celebrated their 20th anniversary last year and are still performing regularly The history of ACOUSTIX and the Dallas Mavericks also dates back 20 years. The quartet has a solid reputation with Mavs Fans and team management and gets first dibs on anthem dates each year, including playoff games. ACOUSTIX was called on to sing the anthem for the final home game of the season which some say turned out to be a good luck charm for the Dallas Mavericks as they won the NBA championship last night. In case the lineup of this foursome looks a bit odd... Two members of ACOUSTIX, Jason January and Joel T. Rutherford still live in the Dallas area. With tenor singer (and Nashville Singers director) Todd Wilson here in Nashville, and lead singer Rick Middaugh living on the Texas Gulf Coast, for anthem gigs in the Dallas area, ACOUSTIX calls on Jeff Oxley (previous ACOUSTIX bass singer, and member of Max Q) to sing the lead part, and Greg Clancy (also of Max Q) to fill in on tenor. Max Qu won the International Championships as well a few years ago. The last time ACOUSTIX had a global TV audience was for Game 6 of the 2006 NBA FInals. More information about ACOUSTIX can be found at www.acoustix.com.

A Few Kind Words...
We had Nashville Singers provide entertainment for our first annual Senior Adult Luncheon at the First Baptist Church. We have nothing but superlatives to share about this group. Their song selection was fabulous. A few folks were brought to tears. They were good tears of touched hearts and memories revisited. Several in the audience were heard singing along and everyone was involved with the concert. We enjoyed them tremendously. Thank you Nashville Singers for making our first luncheon so very special. - Lynne Wells, Chairman, Senior Adult Luncheon, First Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee
