Music City Chorus Presents Hooray for Hollywood
Last Saturday evening, your editor had a chance to check out this production at Vanderbilt University's Ingram Hall. The event featured the Music City Chorus, Lunch Break, TNS, and The Real McCoy.
Lunch Break is booked to perform on our concert on November 19. The Real McCoy performed at a Nashville Singers meeting back in early 2010.
The chorus and quartets gave attendees a sample of what they will be performing this summer at the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Contest and Convention in Kansas City.
Middle Tennessee will be represented admirably at this international event.
For more information about attending the convention, visit www.barbershop.org

Suntones Meet & Greet Continues to Generate Buzz
Nashville Singers hosted a Meet & Greet event with the SUNTONES on May 12. We received a glowing email from one of the patriarchs of the Music City Chorus, Freeman Groat. | Harlan Wilson, Bob Franklin, Gene Cokeroft, Todd Wilson with Nashville Singers performance coach Grace Thomson |
Todd and all! I didn't seem to have an opportunity to express sufficiently, my sincere appreciation to you personally and the Nashville Singers, but particularly The Suntones, for an extremely enjoyable and gratifying evening of song and fellowship! I was elated and felt privileged to, once again, hear and see in person, the fabulous Suntones, my most favorite quartet of ALL times, perform! Thank you so much for giving me that rare opportunity! It was for me, without a doubt, the most memorable evening I've witness for a long time! I only wish I could have heard more! I was very impressed with the quality and quantity of sound the Nashville Singers were able to produce. I was pleased to observe the enthusiasm reflected by physical action and facial expressions, particularly of your younger members. It was great! It adds so much to the performance. I must mention that the "icing on the delicious cake" was to experience the bass of the Vigilantes Quartet, young Mr. Pender,(I believe his name is) sing an almost perfect performance with the Suntones! It was AWESOME! It was obvious that he's been listening intently, to the repertoire of the Suntones, and a huge fan, as well! It reflects to me how greatly the Suntones are respected in our BHS, when youth, such as he, would choose out of all the great quartets, to idolize and pattern his singing, like only the Suntones, do! It was a SUPERB evening! One that I'll cherish forever, and never forget! Thanks again to you, Todd, The Suntones, and The Nashville Singers. Sing-cerely,
Freeman

Wing s & Wonderful Singing Fundraiser
Buffalo Wild Wings is helping Nashville Singers raise funds to support our music education programs.
This is how it works...
Come to the Buffalo Wild Wings location on Charlotte anytime between 6:30 and 8:30pm on Monday night June 13th. When you place your order, mention "Nashville Singers" to your server and Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 15% of your food order to Nashville Singers.
Nashville Singers members will be present that evening and will provide entertainment to restaurant patrons periodically throughout the evening.
Our goal is to generate $3333 in food sales to generate $500 in proceeds to Nashville Singers.
Nashville Singers launched the Music Makes a Difference grant program this year to provide financial assistance to school music programs serving "at risk" youth. On May 15 of this year, we awarded a music education grant of $500 to the choral program at Overton High School.
This year, we were limited to funding one school in Davidson County. Providing we can raise the funds necessary, in future years we hope to expand this program to serve students in schools in surrounding counties as well.
Attending this event will help us support this important program.
