Avoid Application Pitfalls - Attend SCE's October 2010 Contractor Informational Session
In the last three months, only 53% of project applications received by Authorized Agents were complete. Throughout the year, the number of declined applications has added up to over $9 million in lost incentive payments. Don't let this happen to you. Incomplete and/or incorrect applications are at risk of being declined and significantly slow processing time.
A complete project application:
-
Identifies if the project will be self-administered or through an Authorized Agent
-
Designates a payee
-
Includes complete and accurate supporting documentation (e.g., invoice and required specification sheets)
-
Includes the customer's signature
Now is your chance to learn more about avoiding common application pitfalls at our Contractor Informational Session on October 14, 2010. After this session and practicing the lessons learned, you will lower the risk of your customers' applications being declined. What: October 2010 Contractor Informational Session When: 9:00 - 10:30am on Thursday, October 14, 2010 Where: Via webinar and in-person at Irwindale, CA
In-person seating is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

On-Bill Financing (OBF)
Since its launch this year, OBF has been a popular program among eligible customers looking to power up their bottom line. In this special edition, we want to clarify an important point around maximum loan amount and also inform you of the wait list. The maximum loan amount:
- Does not cover the entire project cost, and
- Is the difference between the total project cost of the installed eligible energy efficiency solutions and the incentives/rebates paid by SCE, unless the monthly loan payment exceeds the estimated monthly savings (see below for example).
For illustrative purposes only
How the loan calculation works for business customers:
Total project cost of installed eligible energy efficiency solutions |
$20,000 | Incentives/rebates paid by SCE |
$4,000 | Maximum eligible loan amount |
$16,000 ($20,000 - $4,000) | Loan term (average useful equipment life of installed solutions not to exceed 5 yrs) |
5 years (or 60 months) | Monthly loan payment |
Approximately $266/month ($16,000/60 months) |
Estimated annual energy savings:
kWh |
10,000/year | Incentive per kWh |
$0.15/kWh | Total estimated annual energy savings |
$1,500 (10,000*.15) | Estimated monthly energy savings |
$125/month ($1,500/12 months) |
Since the monthly loan payment ($266/month) exceeds the estimated monthly energy savings ($125/month), the maximum loan amount will be adjusted as seen below:
Total project cost of installed eligible energy efficiency solutions |
$20,000 | Incentives/rebates paid by SCE |
$4,000 | Difference |
$16,000 ($20,000 - $4,000) | Adjusted maximum eligible loan amount |
$7,500 ($125/month*60 months) | Out of pocket the customer must pay |
$ 8,500 ($16,000 - $7,500) |
Wait list
As of August 30, 2010, the medium/large commercial, industrial and agricultural OBF segment fund was over-subscribed. New eligible OBF applications received after August 30 will be placed on a wait list. You can view the wait list at SCE's Energy Management Online Application Tool's home page under the "What's New" section (or click here). The list shows current applicants identified by Universal Project Number (UPN) and requested loan amount.
