These bulletin announcements are for your information about resources, items of interest, prayer and praise requests and information. Use your discretion and print only what will be valuable to your congregation. This information will be sent to you only once. Use your judgment as to how often you run the same information in your bulletin. At least twice prior to an event is recommended. Lutherans and Anabaptist Christians
to Mark Reconciliation
The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg announces a worship service to take place May 1, 2011 to mark the dramatic actions taken by the Lutheran World Federation and the Mennonite World Conference. The event, a worship service of "Forgiveness and Reconciliation," will take place Sunday afternoon, May 1st, at 4pm in the Church of the Abiding Presence, Gettysburg Seminary campus. The announcement comes with the invitation to members of the Anabaptist traditions in the Gettysburg region to participate along with Lutherans from the area and campus community. This Service will be a joint service of confession, prayer and praise of God in response to the action of repentance the Lutheran World Federation in asking forgiveness of the Mennonite World Conference for the persecutions and ongoing separation that resulted from the Lutheran condemnations of Anabaptist teachings in the 16th century. Lutherans and Anabaptists of two local traditions, including Mennonites and Church of the Brethren, are particularly invited to participate in this service. Following the service there will be time of fellowship, and refreshments.
