Discernment re: Location of MC USA's
2013 Convention.
You may be aware that leaders of Mennonite Church USA have been discerning whether or not to hold the 2013 convention in Phoenix as planned. Across the church, people have raised concerns that Arizona 's new
immigration law (SB 1070) will mean that some constituency groups would not feel safe traveling to the convention. In response, Mennonite Church USA leaders have sent a delegation of church leaders to meet with city and convention officials and church leaders in Phoenix; invited feedback from all parts of the church; and arranged for discussion of the issue in various settings, recognizing that the underlying issues call us to work more diligently on growing toward the biblical vision of being one people from all tribes, languages, peoples and nations gathered together by Jesus. The Executive Board, which anticipates making a final decision at its January 7 - 9 meeting, has released an update on the

Shaping Families radio program
Third Way Media has been producing the Shaping Families radio program (sharing interviews on tough family issues; offering faith-based hope) since January, 2010. It has been airing on WDAC, Lancaster , WBYN-FM, Boyertown, WBYN-AM, Allentown and WCHR, Philadelphia. Airtime fees were covered primarily through a grant to Third Way Media (from Odyssey Networks). Beginning Jan. 2012 airing of Shaping Families has been cancelled on WDAC and WBYN-FM due to lack of funding. WCHR and WBYN-AM have extended time through January in the hope that sponsors can yet be identified. Cost varies from $50/program (WBYN-AM and WCHR) to $140/program (WBYN-FM) and $280/program (WDAC). Sponsors can put a 30-second tag at the end of each program. In order to assist Third Way Media in keeping Shaping Families on the air, WBYN and WCHR are offering an additional three promotional spots for the program on Thursday, Friday and Saturday each week. These spots will be 30 seconds in total length - five seconds for Shaping Families, and 25 seconds for your business. If your business or congregation would like to support a positive message encouraging families in your community, while advertising your services, one time a month (or more) please consider sponsoring Shaping Families. Call 800-999-3534 or email SheriH@ThirdWayMedia.org.
