SBE University
Featured Course
Written by Paul Claxton, CPBE, CBNT
SBE members - $99; non-members - $139

The purpose of this course is to give the student an introduction to the fundamental concepts of computer networking. The course covers computer topologies (both physical and logical), media types, the OSI model, and local area networking. It covers some legacy material but is primarily about Ethernet, TCP/IP and other current computer networking protocols. Hardware such as switches and routers will be covered and software such as VLAN, VPN, and NAT as well. Some basic troubleshooting, security, and administrative procedures will also be reviewed.

Physical Domain - Computer Net SBE UThis introductory course covers many subjects at a high level in order to assist the broadcaster in passing the Certified Broadcast Networking Technologist exam. There are several quiz questions at the end of each chapter, as well as a final exam, to help the student ensure he/she understands the material.

Certification questions wanted from you

During the Certification Committee's meeting held in April, the committee received a suggestion to request the SBE membership to submit questions to be added to the existing certification databases.

The Certification Committee is made up of 14 members of the broadcast engineering community who use their experience to create and regularly review questions that appear in the certification exams and SBE CertPreview. Creating questions is often an involved process for this volunteer committee. SBE members are invited to submit questions to the committee for review to add to the questions database. Questions can be multiple choice or essay format. Submissions should include the right answer and in the case of multiple choice questions, three incorrect answers.

Those who took a certiifcation exam and found that there was a topic not covered, may submit a question about that topic. Send submissions to the Certification Director, Megan Clappe at the SBE national office.
