If you are attending NAB and wish to take an exam in Las Vegas during the April show then you will need to send in your application by March 23, 2012. The exams are held during NAB on April 17th at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

| SBE Leadership Development Course - July 31-August 2 | |
SBE continues its commitment to provide leadership training to its membership by offering the SBE Leadership Development Course beginning July 31. This will be the third year the course has been instructed by Rodney Vandeveer, a professional leadership and management trainer and a professor of Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Purdue University.
Designed to take technically-adept people and instill in them sound leadership, supervisory and management skills, the SBE Leadership Development Course is equally beneficial for those who are already in management and for those without prior management or supervisory experience. This interactive course includes training in the dynamics of leadership, a self-assessment on leadership behavioral style, generational differences in the workplace and much more.

If you are taking or thinking about taking an SBE Certification exam, consider using the SBE CertPreview to aid in your exam preparation.
The SBE CertPreview is the only product endorsed by the SBE  National Certification Committee as a way of studying for SBE Certification exams. The SBE CertPreview will take you through a 50 multiple choice question exam and allow you to revisit your answers before you score the sample test exam. Once you have scored the sample test you will be given a breakdown percentage of categories. You will also have the ability to go back to the questions contained within your sample test to see the correct answer. You can take mulitple sample tests and each time you will have a new mixture of questions. The software was designed to give examinees an idea of what to expect on SBE Certification exams. The SBE CertPreview is available for PC and Mac users and can be downloaded and installed onto your computer or you can purchase the CD to install later. The sample tests are $29 each for the download and $33 each (+$3 s/h) for the CD.

This course, designed for non-technical personnel, covers the basics necessary to produce a safe, good quality field produced shot from both microwave based vehicles and satellite uplink vehicles. We begin with a concentration on safety, advance to the basics of microwave principles and operation, then on to audio, video, various IFB techniques, lighting basics, use of wireless microphones and some advanced applications.

By the conclusion of the course the participant should possess the basics required to set up a good live shot from the field and understand the safe practices involved in the application of typical remote news gathering equipment.
Subjects of the course include an introduction to the Mobile Electronic News Gathering System; safety; vehicle and systems operational checks; audio and video as they pertain to ENG Trucks; IFB - Interruptible Fold Back; lighting; and advanced topics.
In addition, there is an addendum that addresses California OSHA Regulations.
