CPS Family Survey 2012: Let Your Voice Be Heard!
The Cambridge Public Schools is now conducting a survey of all families, grades K-12, currently attending CPS. The Perspectives on Cambridge Public Schools Spring 2012 Survey has been designed by K12 Insight, a company specializing in educational surveys. K12 used an inclusive process, the joint questionnaire development process, in order to give CPS educators, family representatives from all schools, and members of the School Committee structured opportunities to participate in the survey's design. The survey will ask families for feedback about their child's current CPS experience, school and district communication, and out-of-school-time activities. Families with more than one child in the schools are asked to complete the survey once for each child.
The survey will be open for participation until June 25. It is available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin Chinese, and Portuguese. Families may participate in the survey online or by paper, in all five languages. To participate online, please visit the CPS website at http://www3.cpsd.us/ and access the survey under the heading "Your Voice Matters." To complete a paper survey, please contact the family liaison or principal of your school.
Families may also contact one of the many citywide organizations CPS is partnering with in an attempt to extend outreach and hear from as many families, across all demographics, as possible. Participating organizations, members of the Cambridge Kids Council and Middle School Network, are listed on the survey flyer. These organizations have volunteered to help families and will be engaged in activities such as distributing/collecting paper surveys, and/or opening their computer banks to families for use. |

GARDENER WANTED: The CRLS community is seeking a family (or families) who are interested in adopting our garden for the summer. We are growing lots of delicious vegetables and some flowers in orange buckets in the play area in the courtyard facing Broadway. We'd like to find a family who would enjoy coming by CRLS and taking care of the garden here during the summer, and of course eating the many yummy veggies that will be ripening as the summer progresses. No gardening experience necessary! Ms Dorritie, CRLS Biology Teacher, will teach you what you need to know. Responsibilities include watering every few days (there's a hose), and weekly weeding. Benefits include: tomatoes, lettuce, kale, peas, peppers, zucchini, beans, carrots, melons....If you're interested, but will be away for a few weeks, we can probably work out a time-sharing arrangement. Biology students and the preschool will take over responsibility for the garden again in the fall. Please contact Barbara Dorritie, bdorritie@cpsd.us or 617-349-6661 if you're interested!
