CRLS School Council Election!

The State Education Reform Act mandates that there be an elected School Improvement Council in each public school made up of parents, teachers, students and community representatives, and co-chaired by the principal. The CRLS School Council usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month and is responsible for advising the principal in setting educational goals, identifying educational needs, reviewing the school's budget, and creating a school improvement plan. Parents/guardians serve staggered 2-year terms so that some are always new and some experienced. Elections are well publicized each spring, and interested candidates must submit a nomination form in order for their names to be included on the ballot.

·     Each "five-second" segment takes approximately 10 minutes to cycle.

·     Three Jumbotron-like screens simultaneously feature one subject each for approximately two hours, and then loop again.

·     Dance styles include ballet, modern dance, postmodern dance, hip-hop, krumping, capoeira, flamenco, sufi mevlevi whirling - among others.

·     Notable dancers and choreographers include Bill T. Jones, Trisha Brown,  Eiko & Koma, Elizabeth Streb, William Forsythe, Bill Irwin, Judith Jamison and Harvard's dance director Jill Johnson.

WAYS TO SEE SLOW DANCING

·     Stroll by quickly.

·     Take a seat in comfortable chairs provided by Harvard.

·     Arrive early and watch the images emerge as the sun goes down.

·     Eat dinner at the Slow Dancing Café, 6-10 p.m. nightly at Dudley House.

·     Take a study break and enjoy a night of art under the stars.

·     Experience Slow Dancing as artistic expression, cross-cultural discovery, spontaneous community building, poetry in motion, experimental image technology,

biological/neurological investigation, a family outing (bring the dog!), classtrip or a fun way to spend a few minutes or an entire evening.
Sincerely, Greta Hardina, CRLS
