Dear Parents/Guardians,
In an effort to improve the Parent-Teacher Conferences and to save time for both parents and staff, CRLS has implemented an online Parent-Teacher Conference pre-registration. Because this is the first year and we want to be fair to families without computer access we will split the time equally for on-line registration and walk-in time.
Parent- Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 2:35 to 3:30 PM and Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 6-8 PM. Pre-registration will open on the CRLS website: http://crls.cpsd.us/aboutcrls/parent_conferences on Friday, March 9, 2012 and will close on March 19, 2012.
- On Tuesday, March 20 from 2:35 to 3:30 PM- will be on-line pre-registration only
- On Thursday, March 22 from 6:00 to 6:30 PM -will be on-line pre-registration only
- On Thursday, March 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM -No pre-registration. Walk-in only.
With the online registration service, parents/guardians can:
- Register for conferences 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the registration period.
- In two simple steps schedule a conference by choosing an available conference time slot.
- View, print and email their conference schedule.
- Return at any time to reschedule a conference.
* We still encourage parents to email teachers throughout the semester as needed, and to visit Ed-line for 24 hour access to their child's progress as an alternative to the limitations of Parent-Teacher Conference.
*If you do not have access to a computer at home, work, or on your phone please call the parent liaison at 617-349-6660, or come to the walk-in time on March 22 from 6:30-8 PM. |
Greetings from the CRLS School Council! Members of the Council (parents, teachers, community members, as well as Mr. Smith and Mr. Tynes) want to encourage family members (parents and guardians) to attend future School Council meetings. Would you like to learn more about CRLS? Do you have ideas on how the Open House, or other events, could better meet the needs of your family? The meetings offer an opportunity to discuss important school topics. Though School Councils are established by Massachusetts law, CRLS School Council meetings are relaxed and friendly - a great chance to meet fellow parents. You don't need any special knowledge of school policy. All you need is what you already know about the experience you and your student have had at CRLS. Whether you prefer to listen to and learn from the discussion, or to offer your views, you are welcome and encouraged to join us. (And, there's pizza!) The dates of the meetings remaining this spring are: Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Tuesday, April 24, 2012 Tuesday, May 29, 2012 Tuesday, June 12, 2012 Meetings take place at CRLS, in the Principal's Conference Room - right near the main entrance. Elections for new members will take place in April. You can learn more about the School Council on the CRLS website here. If you have questions, please contact parent liaison Greta Hardina here or 617-349-6660. Jessica Daniels Representative from Learning Community R Parent Co-Chair of the Council

NuVu Studio's 2012 Summer Program
NuVu Studio is a magnet innovation center for middle & high school students that is located in Cambridge, MA. NuVu's pedagogy is based on the architectural studio model and geared around multi-disciplinary, collaborative projects. In an immersive studio environment, NuVu students learn creativity and innovation skills, problem solving, and new technical skills while collaborating with leading professional and academic experts from MIT and Harvard on real-world projects.
NuVu Studio's 2012 Summer Program explores all aspects of superheroes, from technology to fashion. Students investigate topics of personal interest through an iterative process of critical problem solving and create their own projects to fulfill discovered needs. Intertwined throughout the studios, students learn concepts of math, science, computer programming, robotics, digital arts, writing, music and film. Each two-week studio culminates in a student-staffed exhibition of their projects, thereby encouraging their communication and public presentation skills. Some studios conclude with a head-to-head challenge of their newly designed inventions.
