HAIRSPRAY, the musical

The CRLS Department of Visual & Performing Arts presents the musical comedy and social commentary Hairspray for five performances: December 1, 2, and 3 at 7:00 p.m. and December 3 and 4 at 2:00 p.m. Can plus-size heroine Tracy Turnblad vanquish the reigning princess of TV dance program The Corny Collins Show, find true love, and integrate the show, all without mussing her hair?  Directed by CRLS drama teacher Monica Murray, assisted by recent alumni, with technical direction by Joanne Farwell and featuring a talented and diverse ensemble of student actors, dancers, musicians, designers, and technicians, Hairspray will sweep audiences away to 1960s Baltimore, where the '50s are out - and change is in the air!  At the Fitzgerald Theatre, Cambridge Rindge & Latin School, 459 Broadway; tickets, $5.  For more information, call Susan Holm at 617-349-6788.
