Safe Schools Planning Grant:

The Cambridge Public Schools has received a Safe Schools Planning Grant for the 2011-12 academic year. This is a federal grant that includes a review and revision of district wide emergency procedures to align them with best practice guidelines, meetings with police, fire and other first responders to better coordinate emergency procedures and training. Training will be offered to school administrators, staff and teachers, parents and students.

To begin our training efforts, we would appreciate it if you will fill out the attached questionnaire. We will use it as a baseline to identify our training needs for the parent community. Next fall, we will re-send the survey to you to measure the effectiveness of our outreach efforts to parents.

After you complete the survey (approximately five minutes) and you press submit, your answers will go directly to our grant evaluator. She will then send summary results to me. Your answers are strictly confidential and will be transmitted via an encrypted, secure website.

Thank you for helping us create safer schools for Cambridge students!

Attention High School Seniors:

Navigating the college admission process is a challenge and the college essay is the one place on your application where you can present yourself to an admission officer. This is where you can shine, which makes the essay, and the topic you choose, an exciting challenge.

Margaret McNally, M. Ed, a college counselor with a private practice in Cambridge, is holding individual workshops to brainstorm the college essay and help students find their personal story.  Margaret is a former journalist and English teacher as well as an admissions director at a private school.  Scholarships are available.
