Love To The Mamma: Florida School of Traditional Midwifery

When you were born whose hands held you first?  The loving hands of midwives are the first to touch so many babies in Gainesville and we are honored to have such a wonderful resource here.  This week we'd like to honor the work of a local business that just keeps on giving  every day.  The mission of the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery is to offer the finest in direct-entry midwifery education in an environment that encourages students to reach their full potential.  They believe that it is their responsibility to promote awareness of and access to midwifery services. The  graduates of FSTM are community builders who use midwifery as their tool and have been doing so in Gainesville since 1993.
Beyond being the more well-known Cinco De Mayo, May 5th is also International Midwifery Day.  If you would like to honor this great resource by attending their silent auction, with music, heavy hors d'oeuvres, dance and spirits please contact 338.0766 or email: u2areloved@aol.com

Why Noritz Tankless Hot Water Heaters?
Since the heat exchanger is where most of the strain and stress can occur in the tankless system, along with the dual burner flame technology, this is where Noritz outperforms other tankless water heaters.  By having commercial grade copper in the heat exchanger and burning the escaped gas in the dual flame burner, Noritz has made a highly efficient tankless hot water heater.  What's more, Noritz tankless energy star water heaters at INDIGOGreen will qualify for this weeks' appliance rebate in Florida.  We're exicted enough about it ourselves that we'll give you an additional 10% off the Noritz through the month of April.  Click here for more information about Noritz.

Earth Days Movie at Hippodrome
Thu Apr 22 7pm - 9pm
Hippodrome, 25 SE 2nd Place Gainesville

It is now all the rage in the Age of Al Gore and Obama, but can you remember when everyone in America was not "Going Green"? Visually stunning, vastly entertaining and awe-inspiring, Earth Days' secret weapon is a one-two punch of personal testimony and rare archival media. The extraordinary stories of the era's pioneers-among them Former Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall; biologist/Population Bomb author Paul Ehrlich; Whole Earth Catalog founder Stewart Brand; Apollo Nine astronaut Rusty Schweickart; and renewable energy pioneer Hunter Lovins-are beautifully illustrated with an incredible array of footage from candy-colored Eisenhower-era tableaux to classic tear-jerking 1970s anti-litterbug PSAs. Directed by acclaimed documentarian Robert Stone, Earth Days is both a poetic meditation on humanity's complex relationship with nature and an engaging history of the revolutionary achievements-and missed opportunities-of groundbreaking eco-activism.

Nominated for Best Documentary Screenplay Award, Writers Guild of America.

National Rebuilding Day

Saturday, April 24, 2010

National Rebuilding Day is the culmination of months of planning, evaluating, training, organizing, and mobilizing of volunteers. It is embraced by faith-based groups, civic organizations and corporate sponsors as a way of bringing an immediate impact to our community in a single day. The purpose of that one incredible day is to improve the homes and lives of homeowners in need.

Last year, we had five remarkable project sponsors (corporations, groups or individuals who paid for the projects). This April, we need ten sponsors. If you can't be a sponsor, help us get one. Tell your employer - tell your church - tell your club or organization that we will come and explain the mission of Rebuilding Together. Last year, we had over a hundred tireless volunteers. This April, we need two hundred volunteers. Start spreading the word in every way you can think of.

What are you doing on April 24th, 2010? Join us as we make a difference in a day!
