It's All About the Dogs!January 2012
Greetings!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is settling into 2012!

News on the new park front... all quiet for now while the design team at the Town works on the final plans for ground break in late spring.

As we announced in our blog and the December newsletter, our 1st event of the year is coming up this weekend; the Richmond Hill Winter Carnival at the Mill Pond! We'll be setting up a leash free park at the North East corner of the pond right beside Pet Valu's demonstration ring area.

When we first came up with this idea, the plan was to solicit a sponsor to rent for us some temporary fencing and put a leash free park ON Mill Pond for the Carnival. (Well Dave, co-chairs's idea).  It's a good thing we chalked that idea up with the WKRP (of TV fame) live turkey giveaway episode!  Judging by the weather this year, we'd have ended up with a leash free swimming pool!

So, we're not sure how much winter is going to show up for the carnival, but as of today, the weather network indicates a nice weekend with the temperature at about 0 with cloudy periods and there will still be tons to do for the whole family! We'd love to see you and your pooch out this weekend!  We'll even be offering, for a small donation, dog sitting for an hour or so for properly licensed dogs.

Volunteers to supervise the park at Winter Carnival are needed!  We'll be there from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.   If you can help for a couple of hours (or more), drop us a line!  volunteer@rhk9klub.ca

STUDENTS: Volunteer hours are available this weekend!   volunteer@rhk9klub.ca

See you at the park! (soon to be "parks!")

We encourage you to email us your ideas or post in the forums at our website where we can debate priority. We can't do it all at once and projects will require additional fundraising.
