It's All About the Dogs!June 2011
Pooch Party!
Greetings!

Welcome to the Pooch Party edition of the Richmond Hill K9 Klub newsletter!

Pooch Party is back and the festivities begin Sunday, June 26th at 10am sharp.  We recommend getting there a little early so as not to miss out on the opening ceremonies featuring our Mayor, Dave Barrow and possibly one or two of his Great Danes!  We also have a special presentation by the Vaughan-Richmond Hill Veterinary Emergency Clinic. A donation of much needed pet rescue gear will be made to a representative of the Richmond Hill Fire Department!

Our full list of activities is now posted. Be sure to check it out on the Pooch Party Website.

Worried about your pooch in the heat?  We'll have lots of water on hand to keep the pups hydrated and a refreshing mist from the K9 Klub's Kool Zone will be a huge hit throughout the day.

Also on hand will be face painting for the kids and tarot card readings for the dogs (yes, the dogs!) and much more! Feast on the Lions Club's famous Hamburgers and Hotdogs and top it off with ice cream treats from Olympic Softee!

We are excited to announce that the casting producer of CMT's Pick a Puppy will be on hand answering questions about the program as well as talking to families interested in appearing in coming episodes.  If you are thinking of adding a new puppy to your family, drop in for info!

A very special thanks to our lead sponsor, Amber of Pet Valu, Richmond Hill North and to our many generous sponsors who have enabled us to have over 200 "loot" bags to give away!  We will have Pooch Party passport cards at the Pooch Party booth to hand out (one per family).  Get your card stamped by 10+ vendors and return it to the Pooch Party booth for your loot!

We'll also be raffling a bunch of goodies and gift bags donated by our sponsors throughout the day.

Rick of Global Pet Foods at Tower Hill and Eva at Global Pet Foods on Major Mackenzie are sponsoring the many activities in the paddock (running all day) and have provided terrific prizes for doggy participation! Thank you Rick & Eva!

With so much going on, we would love a little more help!  Students, this is a great (and fun) opportunity for volunteer hours!  If you can help out, please drop us an email at volunteer@rhk9klub.ca

We are also still seeking a few more furry models (small to medium size breeds) for our Pooch Party Fashion Showcase which will feature unique and fashionable clothing by FouFou Dog.  If you're interested in showcasing your special dog in this special show, please contact Dineen: kdbeaven@yahoo.ca

Scroll down to see our sponsors that made this event possible and a listing of the exhibitors you'll have the opportunity to visit.

I suspect the 26th will be a quiet day at Tower Hill Dog Park!

See you at Pooch Party!

The scheduled "10 minute clean sweep" day on the last Sunday of every month is the standing meeting date for park volunteers to meet briefly to catch up on park happenings, maintenance issues, discussions on further improvements etc.  We will also use this time for orientation, handing out information and badges to new volunteers.

The next meeting of the park volunteers is at 11am on Sunday,
July 31st
at the front entrance. If you have are interested in joining our team of park volunteers, come on down!

Also, if any students require volunteer hours, come help us out at the clean sweep; keep an eye on the event calendar for future dates and times.
We always have information to share so keep an eye out for future newsletters and notices.  Thank you for your support.
